I am always open to trying new skincare products being a beauty blogger whether they be serums, lotions, potions, or exfoliants. On my most wanted hit-list was the most widely talked about and popular aesthetician, Kate Somerville's, products. Today, I will namely discuss the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate® Gentle Exfoliating Treatment.
Kate Somerville ExfoliKate® Gentle Exfoliating Treatment
The exfoliator comes in a 60 ml tube which will set you back by $65. It is green in color and is similar in consistency to that of a toothpaste. There are small granules that are part of the physical exfoliant aspect of this treatment. They scrub and lift the dead skin cells, enzymes of papaya, pumpkin, and pineapple are part of the mix which help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, pore size, improve the blood flow to the skin and oxygen.
"Kate Somerville ExfoliKate® Gentle Exfoliating Treatment decongests, detoxifies, and refines skin to reveal a polished, flawless complexion. Get ready for your healthiest, most-radiant skin ever." (Sephora)
Kate Somerville ExfoliKate® Gentle Exfoliating Treatment is suitable for sensitive skin. There is another product which is much more intense called the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate® Intensive Exfoliating Treatment. If you have tough skin and would like to try it out do check this product.
As for my experience, even the gentle treatment was too strong leading my skin to react with red bumps and grazes all over my face. I thought that maybe it was a one-off experience and gave it a go. However, in total I must have used the product 3 - 4 times and by then I had decided that it was time for me to part ways and bid adieu.
I noticed that it was too damaging for my skin and I didn't notice any benefits. After I had completely stopped using the product (which I would only use once a week), I gradually began to see that my skin started to heal from the damage it had caused and I never looked back.
I was looking forward to using the product as I had heard that Kate Somerville's products give you bang for your buck. So you can surely assume, I was very much pumped to try her product. So I would like to have you know that even if products say they are suitable for sensitive skin, doesn't really give them the certificate of approval. It totally depends on your skin and if it can tolerate the punch such treatments give. I am now more cautious of treatment products which I deem to be a bit risky for my delicate, sensitive skin.
Wish you all healthy, radiant skin!
